How to refer

We welcome referrals from a wide range of healthcare professionals, including General Practitioners (GPs), psychiatrists, and allied health practitioners such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists. Our clinic is committed to providing high-quality psychological care tailored to the unique needs of each client.

Referrals can be made for couples, individuals and families seeking support for a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, communication concerns and more. We accept referrals under Medicare (such as Mental Health Care Plans, for individuals only), private health insurance, and other relevant funding bodies.

FAQ

Does my patient or client need a referral to see a therapist?

No, your patient or client can book a session directly at any time. However, they may benefit from rebates if they receive an individual Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from a referring doctor or choose to claim through private health. As a GP or medical professional, just prepare a MHCP and a covering letter addressed to our clinic.

To refer a client, please email the referral letter to info@relationshiproom.com.au. If you’re unsure whether a referral is appropriate, feel free to contact our team to discuss their needs and determine the best course of action.

Does my patient or client's Mental Health Care Plan or insurance cover family and couples therapy?

Unfortunately the Mental Health Care Plan does not cover family or couples therapy, however, most private health insurances do. It would be worth your patient or client checking with their private health company to ensure that their level of cover includes this.

How often should my patient or client attend therapy? And how many sessions will they need?

Frequency depends on your patient or client’s personal goals and circumstances. Some people attend weekly, while others opt for biweekly or monthly sessions for a period of time.
