Gen Z revealed as Aus’s biggest cheaters in Body+Soul Sex Census
Forget the stranger at the bar or the dancefloor hook up, more than one in three Aussies admitted to having cheated on their partner with a work colleague.
The Body+Soul Sex Census 2026 found about the same number of people admitted to being unfaithful with their partner’s friend, while another third conceded doing the do with a friend’s partner.
Relationships expert Rachel Voysey said the workplace provided a “perfect storm” for affairs because colleagues spent time together and often built emotional connections.
“You see these people regularly, so you have a high frequency of contact,” Ms Voysey told news.com.au.
“You go through emotional situations together … you’re on a project together, it’s stressful, you’re working late hours.”
The Sex Census – which interviewed more than 2100 sexually active Australians across the country – found more than one in 10 admitted to cheating in the past year, with more men guilty of being unfaithful.
When it comes to the generations, more than a third of Gen Z (those aged between 14 and 29) admitted to being unfaithful to their partner in the past 12 months, compared with 15 per cent of Millennials (those aged between 30 and 45), five per cent of Gen X (46-61), and just three per cent of Boomer (62-80).
Victorians were the biggest cheaters, with a quarter of respondents admitting to being unfaithful.
